WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Thursday, June 18, 2009 - Posted by Robert Morrison
Recent discussions with the Department of Justice regarding the uptake of the WWCC within sport suggest that the take up has been lower than expected.
A reminder that the deadline for volunteers/employees in the following sports is July 1 2009:
Athletics (including Little Athletics)
Basketball
Cricket
Football (Australian Rules)
Football (Soccer)
Gymnastics (including Trampolining)
Martial Arts
Netball
Swimming (including Life Saving)
Tennis
Clubs/organizations with staff and/or volunteers whom are required to hold a valid WWCC but do not do so (after July 1 2009) face penalties including fines up to $27,000 and/or up to 2 years jail. As the responsibility lies with the clubs or organizations, it is in the best interest to ensure all the relevant individuals have obtained their WWCC.
